Elle wasn’t entirely sure what she had just walked in on, but she knew two things. One, there were two men that she didn’t recognize standing over her—Dean. Two, they had injected him with something that ended with him being passed out on the floor in front of them. Elle reacted the only way she knew how.
She struck first.
She sent one arch out towards the taller of the two men, blowing him back against the wall. It wasn’t enough to kill him, but it was enough to stun, and send a warning. Electricity still crackled around her fingertips as she turned on the older man, eyes cold. He had pulled a gun on her in the process and she just smirked.
“Alright, Grandpa. Wanna take bets on who’s gonna draw first?”
“What the hell are you?”
“I’m the next step in evolution. And that’s my—Dean, so why don’t you take two giant steps back.”
“We’re his family,” Samuel snapped. “We’re trying to help him.”
“All of Dean’s family’s dead.”
“Sometimes death doesn’t exactly stick,” he snapped, gun still trained on her. There was a groan below them as Dean started to stir, and Elle hesitated for a moment, before dropping her hand and the sparks and running to his side instead. If he really was Dean’s family, he’d know that shooting her when things were like this would be very bad form. She dropped down onto her knees in front of Dean, one and moving to support his head gently.
“Dean? You okay?”
“What was—” He looked up, past her, to the man standing over her, and his whole body tensed. “What the fuck.”
The next thing she knew, he was up and putting himself between Elle and the old guy. Elle didn’t know what it was he had saw, but her hackles were up again, and the electricity was starting to crackle around her fingers again. “Who is this guy?”
“He’s my grandfather.” Dean was about to say more when there was a groan from the man she had shocked earlier, as he was starting to come to. Both of them turned in the direction of the sound, and the look in his eyes almost made Elle’s heart break. “Sam?”
“Wait. Sam Sam. The Sam?” Now she was really confused. Because she had heard the whole horror story regarding Sam and something wasn’t adding up.
“Man. I feel like I got hit by a bus.”
“I’m not apologizing for that quite yet.”
Dean blinked, before glancing back at her. “Did you electrocute my brother?”
She shrugged. “Just a little. He’ll be fine.”
“She did what to me?”
“Alright—explanations. You first, us second. And you better hope I like it or she’s going to do more than electrocute you ‘a little’.”
The two men looked at each other, before Sam turned back and nodded. “Alright. Let’s take it from the top.”
